Christmas Time and Family

I went to see my one remaining grand parent yesterday.  Nanny Freda when I was growing up was always the most fun, she would play badminton on the green with us and made the most amazing gravy.  If one thing would bring me back to eating meat it would be her gravy.  Over the years I got closer to my Fathers late Mother Dorris.  Whilst she had no physical ability [other then falling over the cracks in the pavement] she had a very sharp mind, if a little bitter and twisted at time [frankly mad at others].  But she understood me, and liked to learn about the  things that interested me.  She just did not have a well enough body to carry on.  Freda is not well, she shook the whole time we were there, and we really had to force her to eat.  She does not like Bella either, but then she never liked animals.  She could also never get to know me as well as Doris, as on my mums side there are many more siblings [I wonder if we were from catholic decent on that side?].

It’s Sad

I look at my young puppy, who is desperate to learn and be inquisitive, then at my poor gran, who wants to do nothing other then disappear into her own dark thoughts.  I tried my best to help through my mothers interruptions.   Realisation is that in order to be helped, people often need to want to be helped.

Medical

So I have a medical today in a couple of hours.  I woke up with a cold!  Typical. bloody typical.  Very bloody typical. But not so bad really.  I’ve been taking first defence and it always seams to at least take the edge off it.  I’m kinda looking forward o having a medical.  Will make a change and perhaps it would be nice just to make sure I’m okay.

Last quiz of the year!

Come down Yee Faith-full quiz lovers.  It’s a Crimbo/best of quiz.  And to give you a hand I’ll let you know what the music quiz is this week:  The best and the worst of Christmas.

Christmas, now that’s a funny old thing.

I love Christmas, yes I’m not a christian, I do have a christian name, bust still am not a christian. If there is one thing that I wish my folks had not done is christen me. HTat should have been my choice.  However… I love Christmas, I love the food, the meeting people, giving gifts…. It’s all bloody good fun.  And a damn site cheaper when your not with a partner.  I have however only got one persons present so far.  Sir Barrington.

Chalkster’s drop in center

I’ve long given up on Christmas being a family affair, mostly because my sister has ruined all of them since I was a child.  So we have a drop in for everyone that is a friend that has nowhere else to go.  We all get taken gifts for one another and eat, and drink in huge quantities.  It works, very well.  this year looks to be my biggest yet.  I’m really looking forward to it.

Right time to get ready!
